“Morning Catch” by Deborah Scannell

I rose early on this day to capture the sunrise. As often in the very early hours the water was still and reflective. I began photographing the morning mist rising off the lake and as I turned to make a new composition, I saw the Great Blue Heron silhouetted in the distance with what look like something large in it’s beak. I abounded my sunrise shooting and turned my attention to him. Glad I did as I stayed with him for 45 minutes and made dozens of interesting images.
