The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts (TCVA), in addition to hosting the 14th Annual AMPC finalists exhibition in their gallery from March 3 – June 2, 2017, is also hosting a new program this year called “Portfolio Reviews.” Portfolio reviews are 20-minute, in-person, one-on-one review sessions with curators, Appalachian State University photography faculty, gallery owners, and publishers, in which the photographer and reviewer will discuss a portfolio of 20 of the photographer’s best images.
About thirty photographers will be selected to participate in portfolio reviews based on a lottery drawing, and any photographer who enters this year’s AMPC is eligible to enter the lottery drawing.
Portfolio Reviews are a great way to network with reviewers and photography colleagues. All registered contestants will receive an e-mail invitation to sign up for the lottery drawing after the 14th Annual entry deadline, so on November 21, start keeping an eye out for e-mails from us!
Portfolio Reviews will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from noon to 3 PM in the TCVA lecture hall. Each one-on-one review session lasts for 20 minutes. Sessions will be timed to ensure equitable discussion with each reviewer. Please come prepared with a portfolio of 20 images to share. Prints or digital images on a laptop, tablet or other digital device are welcome.
A list of reviewers will be announced in early November. Winning Lottery Photographers will be notified on Thursday, December 8, 2016.
