Huh? The underside of a curved concrete bridge embodies the essence of Appalachia?
The picture IS quite pleasing to the eye and I could see it proudly adorning the cover of Civil Engineering magazine, but I really don’t get the connection to Appalachia.
I would have voted for that curly long haired woman standing by her shack. The contrast between abject poverty and her native beauty is stunning, powerful and implies hope in the manner of a Phoenix rising from ashes of greif.
