Woody’s outdoor career, which includes organizing to protect Dupont State Recreational Forest from private housing development, was emboldened when he witnessed the reality of clear cutting on USFS land in the 1980s. After starting his outdoor career on the manufacturing side (he launched Misty Mountain Threadworks), he has become one of the most outspoken leaders of sustainable trails and recreation in the nation.
