“Honeybee Colony Collapse Disorder” by Skip Sickler

Honeybees have long been recognized as playing a significant role in the pollination of flowering plants worldwide, including the many fruits and vegetables that are grown as food. Though not fully understood, Colony Collapse Disorder is thought to be a direct result of human impact to the environment. Researchers believe that the chemicals used in pesticides and herbicides; general atmospheric pollution; global warming; and, electromagnetic waves used by cell phones and other forms of communication have all played a role in the decline of honeybee populations.
