The pristine trout waters of the North Fork of the French Broad mix with heavily sedimented runoff from a USFS logging project in the Pisgah Ranger District. While timber harvests provide revenue for the forest service and jobs in the region the environmental impacts must be closely monitored. Poor site management on this project led to significant sedimentation of the river. Fortunately, the impact was observed early in the rainy season and the USFS quickly began remediation efforts on site to correct the problem.
