Most summers my family follows me around the Appalachian Mountains hitting Bluegrass festivals – but not to listen to music. To photograph. I’m drawn to the sound of instruments and the ambient human noise that bubbles everywhere within campgrounds and festival sites. Once our tent is up I spend the rest of my day meeting and photographing the people around the periphery, the folks who make the shows run smoothly, their familes and even sometimes the musicians.
